Things have been hella busy.

Still have a honey-do list for today. Yes. I'm at home. This is stuff to do around the house.

I need to figure out how to recognize a heating coil on a dryer. Should be interesting.

Work is good. At a zen place.

Thanksgiving is going to be the schizz.

B-day coming up. Tight.

Christmas is going to be pretty cool.

Conner Update:
We have put latches on the Haz locker. He has already started thinking about them.

Ok fuckers.

I understand the pattern and why you do it.

It's 6:31. 29 minutes until it's time to go home.

You're passdown starts in roughly 15 minutes. You're bored and don't want to work.

So what do you do?

You put in a ticket for a keyboard that's stopped working.

Newsflash, I'm sure it didn't just break right now.
If you had put in a ticket at the beginning of shift, it'd be fixed already.

I was in your fab tonight.

That is all.

Fantasy

As promised. And hopefully with less rant.

There are things that are leaving me unfulfilledin my Role-playing life.

To start with, I don't feel like there is really a group that has been assembled that I feel completely comfortable RPing with. This isn't really a new development. I think that this has actually been going on for years.

In my estimation, RP is supposed to be a collaboration between all of the players as well as the DM. The last example of that I can remember was the TRG. We used to conspire against the DM.

I think that we, as players and DMs need to take more of an ownership of in-game environment. I don't really mean this to mean that each person involved should be a dungeon master, I mean this to mean that each person should act like the world is theirs to live in. We are not strangers to the world we play in and if we are, we should be fighting to get back to what is "normal."

I think that we need to establish a balance in the rules and this is something that I think we all need to sit down together and discuss. As an example, I feel that treasure should automatically be split and XP given at the end of each encounter. There are people who disagree. I think we need to esatblish the house rules as a group so that there is ownership in "Our game" and the way we play it.

I also have issues with time and place. A good majority of us have children now. Time constraints really remove a bit of the spontanaity we once had. A game needs to be built so that it is flexible for all involved. Players will come and go on a regular basis because of our schedules.

Let's get together. I don't know when, but I think it should involve food. Let's talk about game. LEt's talking about what we want to be when we take a break from growing up.

Think about it. Take notes. Discuss.

Perhaps it's the lack of medication or the fact that I'm overworked right now.
Or maybe it's the fact that I keep getting battered over and over by the crazy shit that life is throwing at me.

Right now, I just don't give a fuck anymore and I don't know why I try so fucking hard.

Maybe I just need to get fucking stoned.

Seems to work.

In the central and eastern Pacific, Tropical Storm Jova (60 mph), Tropical Storm Kenneth (65 mph) and Tropical Storm Norma (45 mph) are churning toward the northwest, west and west-northwest respectively. None of these storms pose a threat to any land at this time however the waves propagated by Jova will kick up the waves along the east facing shores of the Hawaiian Islands. A high surf advisory is in place as waves will reach 6 to 10 feet through Saturday and subsiding on Sunday.

6-10 @ Bellows. Nice.

"I don't really care how time is reckoned so long as there is some agreement about it, but I object to being told that I am saving daylight when my reason tells me that I am doing nothing of the kind. I even object to the implication that I am wasting something valuable if I stay in bed after the sun has risen. As an admirer of moonlight I resent the bossy insistence of those who want to reduce my time for enjoying it. At the back of the Daylight Saving scheme I detect the bony, blue-fingered hand of Puritanism, eager to push people into bed earlier, and get them up earlier, to make them healthy, wealthy and wise in spite of themselves." (Robertson Davies, The Diary of Samuel Marchbanks, 1947, XIX, Sunday.)

RITA HAS
INTENSIFIED TO A CATEGORY 5 STORM ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE THIS
AFTERNOON AND AT 898 MB NOW HAS THE THIRD LOWEST ATLANTIC STORM
CENTRAL PRESSURE EVER. FORTUNATELY THE HURRICANE SHOULD WEAKEN
SLIGHTLY BEFORE MAKING LANDFALL...BUT IS STILL EXPECTED TO BE A
DANGEROUS CATEGORY 4 STORM.

AFTER THE STORM MAKES LANDFALL...THE HURRICANE SHOULD WEAKEN
AS IT MOVES INLAND. THE LATEST FORECAST TRACK FROM THE
NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER WOULD BRING THE WEAKENING HURRICANE NORTH
TO NEAR HEARNE SATURDAY NIGHT AND NEAR DALLAS AFTER SUNRISE SUNDAY.
MODELS ARE BEGINNING TO DIVERGE IN THEIR SOLUTIONS...AND THERE IS
NOW MORE UNCERTAINTY IN RITA/S TRACK AND TIMING. THE RIDGE OVER
TEXAS THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY EXPECTED TO WEAKEN SEEMS TO BE STRONGER
THAN THE MODELS EXPECTED...AND THIS MAY IMPACT RITA/S TIMING AND
LOCATION.

IN NORTH TEXAS AS THE STORM APPROACHES WE EXPECT THE FOLLOWING
EFFECTS:

1. HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLOODING. 6 TO 10 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE MAINLY ALONG AND EAST OF THE I-35 CORRIDOR
BEGINNING LATE SATURDAY IN THE SOUTH AND CONTINUING THROUGH THE
WEEKEND. WESTERN COUNTIES MAY SEE FROM 2 TO 6 INCHES OF RAIN AS
WELL...AND MORE IS POSSIBLE IF RITA/S PATH PROVES FARTHER WEST THAN
THE CURRENT FORECAST. EVEN THOUGH THERE HAS BEEN A DROUGHT IN MUCH
OF NORTH TEXAS...TOO MUCH RAIN LIKELY WILL FALL IN TOO SHORT A TIME
TO ALLOW SOILS TO SOAK UP THE RAINFALL. THUS...FLASH FLOODING MAY
RESULT. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH WILL LIKELY BE ISSUED LATER FOR THIS
WEEKEND. SHOULD RITA STALL OR SLOW SIGNIFICANTLY IN NORTH TEXAS...A
WORST CASE SCENARIO...WELL OVER A FOOT OF RAIN MAY ACCUMULATE IN
SOME AREAS.

2. STRONG WINDS. EXPECT 40 TO 60 MPH SUSTAINED WINDS...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS IN SQUALLS...SOUTH OF A LINE FROM LAMPASAS...TO HILLSBORO...TO
ATHENS SATURDAY EVENING INTO THE NIGHT. THESE WINDS MAY BE STRONG
ENOUGH TO KNOCK DOWN TREES...POWER LINES AND CAUSE LOCALIZED MINOR
STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. RESIDENTS SHOULD PREPARE FOR INTERRUPTIONS IN
POWER SERVICE. ALSO REMEMBER...MOBILE HOMES OFTEN ROLL OVER DURING
PERIODS OF HIGH WINDS AND CAN EASILY BE DAMAGED BY FALLING TREES.
WINDS SHOULD TAPER OFF TO 30 TO 40 MPH SUNDAY MORNING AS RITA
CONTINUES TO WEAKEN...BUT THESE WINDS WILL LIKELY BE FELT OVER MOST
OF NORTH TEXAS. RESIDENTS ACROSS ALL OF NORTH TEXAS SHOULD SECURE
SMALL AND LIGHTWEIGHT OUTDOOR OBJECTS.

3. A FEW TORNADOES. AS WITH ALL LANDFALLING HURRICANES...ISOLATED
TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE. THIS WILL BE MOST LIKELY ALONG AND TO
THE EAST OF THE INTERSTATE 35 CORRIDOR.

4. TRAVEL PROBLEMS. INCREASED TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATES AS PEOPLE
EVACUATE FROM THE HURRICANE. WET ROADS...HEAVY RAINFALL AND INCREASED
TRAFFIC COULD LEAD TO DELAYS AND ACCIDENTS. SOME AIRLINE DELAYS WILL
BE POSSIBLE. ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATIONS THIS
WEEKEND.

DISSIPATING HURRICANES HAVE MOVED ACROSS NORTH TEXAS MANY TIMES IN
THE PAST...TYPICALLY WITH SOME WIND DAMAGE AND FLASH FLOODING AS
WELL AS RIVER FLOODING. RESIDENTS AND THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL ACROSS
NORTH TEXAS THIS WEEKEND SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THIS SYSTEM AND STAY
TUNED TO THE LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION.

MORE INFORMATION ON HURRICANE RITA...AND OTHER TROPICAL SYSTEMS
THAT HAVE AFFECTED NORTH TEXAS...IS AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE AT:

This feeling is a gnawing sensation that goes away when I'm distracted by the next bright and shiney object that crosses my path.

Supposedly, I'm good at what I do and that's why it all piles up. I personally think I'm the laziest guy I know. eh.

Tonight, I watched a woman I don't know slide into a different dimension and take on a completely new life.

Fuck it's hard being normal when you breath the same air as greatness.

I'm blessed to be a witness.

Hell, I'll admit it. I'm just along for the ride.

I don't know what I'm thinking/feeling/saying anymore.

Don't comfort me. It's really not that bad.
Things change

This has been one of those incredibly strange weekends and I'm still not entirely sure where some issues stand. The fight is still continuing with the insurance company and frankly, the entire thing is bullshit. I really thought these guys were squared away, but from the looks of things, they have their heads up their collective asses.

The huricane has had strange effects out here in Texas. We are on the edge of the refugee storm so it makes for a strange mix of FEMA workers enroute and arenas full of homeless people. Overall, our lives haven't changed that much, but we are handed reminders of how temporary everything is every time we turn the corner.

A-fest 2005 is over. I got to meet tons of cool people. Did you know that Clarine Harp was in Kiddy Grade and Yu Yu Hakusho? I had no idea. It's all good. I met her as Clarine and that's really what counts.

My tooth is finally dead. They drilled the nerve out on thursday and right now I'm neither high or in pain. This is a very good thing. I was so tired of being high and so tired of being in the fetal position.

Terra has a new digital camera. I'm truly hoping that this will be a key tool in her career. Perhaps she'll remember me when she's a famous photographer.

I guess that's all I have to say right now. It's all fragmented because there's so much going on in my head and I just don't know what needs to be said.

Sunshine in a bag. . .

After 7 hours of work today in the old apartment, I finally closed the doors and handed the keys over to Vanessa. We're finally moved. It took forever and there are many lessons learned from this particular experience.

I was rewarded for my hard work by nature. A heavy storm rolled into the area making my bedroom a dark cave for me to hybernate in for the few hours that I had to sleep. My body hit the matress and sleep came extremely quick. The power going out was a bit of a blessing since I ended up getting more sleep then I would have otherwise.

Traffic was hell going into work tonight like it usually is when it rains. Texans and rain don't mix. But you see, traffic isn't bad when there's interesting things to look at while you're driving. I took a great amount of pleasure watching the two cute chicks next to me pass a pipe back and forth while in stop and go traffic. Hell, it wasn't even 4:20.

In a little less then 4 hours, I get to sleep. I'm going to stumble into the bedroom, collapse on the bed and sleep like a man who's been working hard. This is my reward and I am grateful for it.

Then pick the 5 biggest dorks you know and have them do the meme.

1. I do research in my spare time. My favorite research project was proving/disproving that D&D causes homocidal/suicidal tendencies. My last research project was on secret organizations and world government conspiracies. I'm hoping to do some more research.

2. I refer to physical actions in terms of D&D ability checks. I recently lifted my sons crib up and over the stair case railing without help. I then turned to Cutter and muttered something about the feat only having a DC of 18.

3. I reconfigured my stereo 3 times while I was setting it up again today. For some reason, I wasn't completely satisfied. To be honest, I'm still not sure if I am.

4. The computer is being moved into the kitchen. I'm thinking with all the stuff that goes on and the fact that it's so close to the sliding glass door, I'm going to have to perform more routine maintenance.

5.
Interesting facts:

24 oz. Mt. Dew has more Caffiene then No Doze. 110mg > 100mg.

Mt. Dew has the same amount of Caffiene but zero calories.

Caffiene content of other drinks.

Drip 115-175
Espresso 100mg of caffeine
1 serving (1.5-2oz)

Brewed 80-135
Instant 65-100
Decaf, brewed 3-4
Decaf, instant 2-3
Tea, iced (12 ozs.) 70
Tea, brewed, imported 60
Tea, brewed, U.S. 40
Tea, instant 30

But here's the kicker . . .

Canadian Mt.
I've had it

I come into work today thinking that I'm going to end up working on the cabling project that I have to get done before the next audit runs through the fab.

For those that don't know what I'm talking about, we are currently being inspected. I'm sure this is some sort of info they don't want spreading around, so I'll just say it's a big deal. Anyway, I have 2 fabs that need to be have all of the cabling cleaned up. We have kinda gotten our minds bent around the fact that we support so many fabs that we can't name them all off without wondering if we named something twice, but when it comes to touching every damn PC in a fab, we get a little pissy when you tell us to do it to two fabs. Oh, I'm sorry. Make that only one fab since they don't count these two as being seperate anymore. BULLSHIT! No matter what you name them, they're two god damned factories.

Anyway. I digress.

So. Here's the staffing situation:

Angie, god bless her, works in DFAB. It's what she does. DFAB is a needy little bastard child that no one wants to deal with. NOTHING has changed for her. She keeps working the same issues she's been working since she started here in the 80's. The only difference is now she comes to me with all of her DM6 issues.

Rich, Poor bastard, is in the same possition I am in.

EDIT: My bad. I thought he was listening to the game. No. He's watching it too. He's got a small B&W TV sitting on top of his monitor.

Ok. I'm finally off to the fab now.

If you take DFAB out of the mix, that leaves 7 fabs (read factories) for us to work issues in.

Ah, but aren't there more people on your shift? Well, yes. There are. There's also Daryl and Tony.

Why don't they help out? Because Daryl is in a wheel chair (not his fault), and Tony has an alergy to the smocks.

And that's what really pisses me off. If we had just one more set of hands out there, I might be able to do things like go to lunch at a reasonable hour, or maybe watch the phones while I study, or perhaps *GASP* get some of my WORK MANDATED training done. But no. This guy is ALLERGIC to the smocks we wear in the fab. The only proof we have is that he says he breaks out. There's no documentation. He hasn't gone to get the paper work filled out. NOTHING!

If we have a slow night on the phones, he sits on his ass and does not a god damned thing, meanwhile, Rich and I are stuck in a cleanroom wearing the bunny suit zip-tying cables and replacing mice because people like to think that mice are cool things to beat on.

GodDAMMIT! It pisses me off that I'm heading off into 3 fabs tonight. RIGHT NOW. And when I get there, I'm going to get phone calls about other things that need to be "looked into" while Daryl is sitting in his cube listening to a basketball game and Tony already has his TV antenae on top of his cube so he can watch the game on his damn TV card that he installed in his work PC.
